Tension (/Trauma) Release

Tension Release (formerly “Trauma Release”) is a foundational practice for de-bracing the body and nervous system.

Tension Release is often missed in chiropractic care.

It can help soften ‘bracing’ of the hips and pelvis, and also help us to relax our shoulders (‘anti-shrug’) to take pressure off the neck and back.

Question: Is it ethical to adjust the lower back without clearing out the tension first? Otherwise, might things just tighten up again – as soon as you walk out the door?

Tension Release was popularized in the military to support soldiers who were less responsive to talk therapy (DVA; PTSD).

“My first Tension Release session in 2012 was recently published by its founder in 2025.” – Simon
